关于 Chicago Polar Dash

The Polar Dash Half Marathon and 10K will be a fun and frosty adventure. At our Polar Dash in Chicago, runners will be in the mood to get the year started on the right foot with a good, old fashioned winter race! Because in Chicago we run outside YEAR 'ROUND!

The Half Marathon is chip-timed and 10K is optional chip-timed. Both races are on a USATF-certified course that takes runners from Grant Park, south down the lake shore of Lake Michigan and back.

This is a cold weather race and participants must come ready to run in any kind of wintry weather.

Water Stations will be at: Miles 2, 4, 6, and 9 on the Half Marathon course. Medical Stations will be at Mile 4 on the 10K Course. Port-a-Potties: There will be portable restrooms at every water station and at the start/finish area.

Awards will be given to the Top 3 Overall Male and Female Finishers (6 awards Total).

A bag check area will be available in the Athlete Village at Arvey Field. You must have your race bib to be able to check your bag. Your belongings will be secure throughout the run. Team Ortho Foundation, however, is not responsible for lost/stolen items, so please do not bring any valuables. Be sure to allow enough time to get to the Start Line.

Time limit for 10K: 2 hours. Time limit for Half Marathon: 3 1/2 hours.

Chip-timed races.

The race follows an out and back course which mostly takes place on the Lakefront Trail along the water. Runners will pass through various parks, as they head south, away from the city.

They will cruise down the coast, staying on the same trail which runs parallel to South. Lake Shore Drive. When runners reach Harold Washington Playlot Park they will turn around and head back along the same route back to the finish area.

As runners approach the Museum campus, they will pass Soldier Field, home to the Chicago Bears, as well as pass the Field Museum, before wrapping around the Shedd Aquarium and heading up the Lakefront Trail. They will then run to Maggie Daley Park which is the last turnaround before heading back to the finish line, directly across from the start.
