The new running track passes via Ghent, Drongen, Sint Martens Latem, De Pinte, de Leie , Parkbos, de Blaarmeersen naturel park.

In collaboration with IVAGO and IVM, the purpose is to become the cleanest marathon of the world! All papers, gels, bars, cups, bottles go directly in the garbage containers put a long the running track.

A visite most worthy!

THE EXPERIENCE ABOVE ALL!

The running party in 2018 will also this year be held in the Topsporthal where all athletes and
supporters will gather, with music and animation to finish with big enthusiasm the race. Free childcare and animation is foreseen during the event, in such way the mothers and daddy’s can participate carefree to the race. The residents all long the running track are invited and rewarded to decorate their streets and houses, and come outside to supporter and event with a resident party BBQ as some suggested.

Also a finisher T-shirt can be bought online, as well free massage will be given at finish.

RUNNING IS HEALTHY

Ghent Marathon wants to activate a large public to sport and move. Because sporting is much more then be in good body shape. Running bring people together and contribute to a better health condition, integration, participation and social cohesion, as well to fight stress and burn out. Hereby we the organisation of the Ghent Marathon want to approach sport/ running as a goal but also as a way to feel better.

A part from that a good preparation is also part of the job! In this way the Ghent Marathon delivers groups trainings. Those trainings will be organised for the different distances, as well contain info moments on optimal nutrition, prevent sport injuries and mental training tips. Engels is of the idea that: “If you are surrounded by a good team, as I had during my Marathon year 2010 and all along my running periods, then you can reach your sportive goal on a responsible way”.
