A mostly fast and very flat, highly scenic that runs through the streets of Miami and Miami Beach await the more than 3,000 runners and walkers who come out each year for the Michelob Ultra 13.1 Marathon Miami Beach, which is part of a seven-race series of half marathons across the country from March through November.
This event is all about the run, and the fun experience along the way. The party begins well before the finish line with on-course entertainment featuring bands and dancers against the beautiful backdrop of the Miami and Miami Beach coasts. Once runners cross the finish, the celebration continues with Latin food and a beer in South Beach!
The Miami Beach race offers runners ample views of the ocean waves crashing against the shore and the art and architecture of the city’s world-famous South Beach, from the starting line along Ocean Drive, next to Lummus Park in South Beach.
The race is open to walkers as well as runners, provided that they can complete the race’s 13.1 miles within the three and a half-hour time limit. After this time, the course will be re-opened to automobile traffic and participants will be urged to use the greatest caution if they choose to continue after the time allotted.
Course highlights
The 13.1 course starts out on the famous Ocean Dr. and makes its way towards the Julia Tuttle Cswy past some magnificent residences of Miami Beach. After crossing the causeway into Miami, runners enter the up-and-coming Wynwood area where you will be able to see well-known graffiti artwork throughout this warehouse district. Runners next leave the city of Miami and return to Miami Beach across the MacArthur Cswy where you’ll catch a glimpse of cruise ships at dock. Upon entering South Beach, the course will run on the new South Point Park Baywalk along the waters of Biscayne Bay with spectacular views of Fisher Island. As you approach the finish via Ocean Drive, the course turns onto beach side serpentine where the finish line welcomes you. Finally, enjoy a grand post-race beach party on South Beach in Lummus Park.
