From the Andes to the Alps, Skyrunning is a sport that takes place among some of the world’s most spectacular mountain ranges. Skyrunning attracts participation in the form of runners and fans. It is a sport born in nature, where the logic was to reach the highest peak in the shortest possible time. Today it represents one of the fastest growing outdoor sports and is defined by altitude and technicality.
Skyrunning was founded in 1992 by the Italian Marino Giacometti, President of the International Skyrunning Federation, which governs the discipline worldwide and sports the motto: Less Cloud, More Sky.
The term Skyrunning is defined by the Skyrunning Federation as “running in the mountains above 2,000m altitude where the climbing difficulty does not exceed grade II° and where the incline is greater than 30%”.
