About Halong Bay Heritage Marathon

HALONG BAY HERITAGE MARATHON - the most charming and beautiful running course by the world natural heritages of Vietnam, a peaceful city in Southeast Asia.

Do you want to discover the vibrant city of Hanoi, Vietnam and one of the seven wonders in the world by foot? Then the the Halong Bay Heritage Marathon will be the perfect race for you.

Halong Bay Heritage Marathon, a breath-taking route, runners will have the unique chance to see stunning attractions of one beautiful World Heritage. The race started in 2015 and offers a wide range of distance options: 42 km Full Marathon, 21 km Half Marathon, 10 km and 2km Fun Run.

The running course has been designed to run over Bai Chay Bridge, the longest single span bridge in Southeast Asia, to provide a spectacular view from above over the magnificent landscape of Halong Bay, one of the world natural heritages internationally recognized by UNESCO. The route continues through picturesque spots of mountains and coastal lines along the bay…

Ha Long (Quang Ninh province, Vietnam, a very beautiful country at South East Asia) is formed by about 2000 islands of all sizes in the middle of the beautiful ocean, Halong bay is considered a cradle of culture of enormous biodiversity and archeological value.

Beside all the sight-seeing tours offered, there will be a 21km running track along the coast. From “Bai Chay” bridge, you will have in your sight an enormous beach, majestic mountains as well as bright welcoming smiles from friendly locals alongside the running track. It will certainly be an experience which cannot be resisted by any travel-lover in Halong Bay, a place dubbed as “Heaven on Earth”.

We are hoping that the event will go forward as planned on the 22nd of November 2020. However, in the worst scenario, there could still be two cases:

1. The marathon is postponed due to the re-emergence of the pandemic and the government does not allow sports activities and mass events.

2. Foreign runners who have registered to compete in Vietnam are forced to undergo a 14-day quarantine at arrival, so they will not be able to join the race.

If the above cases occur, ROC would like to propose the following options:
Option 1: The entire registration fee will be automatically brought forward to the 2021 marathon. Option 2: If the marathon cannot be held as planned due to the pandemic, ROC will arrange an online race instead. Registered runners can still participate in the online race for a fee of USD15, and will receive T-shirt and medal (Vietnamese and foreign runners will need to cover the postage cost for shipping T-shirts and medals). ROC will deduct USD15 from the runner’s registration fee to complete the online race registration. The rest of the fee will be taken forward to the 2021 marathon. This means that the runner will only have to pay an additional USD15 to compete at the registered distance of the 2021 race.
