Turkcell, the supporter of athletes, is inviting you to join us for an amazing marathon experience in the unparalleled atmosphere of the historical Gallipoli Peninsula, one of the most important thematic tracks of the world..

Everybody is getting excited about the annaul Turkcell Gallipoli Marathon to be organized in Canakkale. If you want to participate in the events to be organized under the categories: Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km Run and Public Run, come and join us!

Practicalities

Age Limit

Marathon: Male and female runners who are over 18. Half marathon, 10-km Race: Male and female runners who are over 16.

Aid Stations

Athletes will be offered Water and Sponge Stations at every 2.5 and 5 km. Nourishment Stations (Water Stations): Water, chocolate, fruits and special drinks provided by the athletes at the Marathon Fair will be made available. Sponge Stations: Water and sponges will be made available. First Aid: There will be a sufficient number of ambulances along the track and a hospital tent will be built at the finish line area.

Award Medals

Trophies and medals will be presented to the ranking runners. All Marathon, Half Marathon and 10-km Runners will receive medals.

Maximum Time

The time limit for marathon runners will be 6.5 hours. After this time limit has passed, the route will be opened to traffic and runners who are still on the route may continue running on the sidewalk.

Race Kit Includes

Participants must visit the Marathon Fair that will be held at Çanakkale Harbour Square in order to get their runner number tags, timing chips and race t-shirts. Turkish participants must submit their ID cards with TR ID No., and non-Turkish citizens must submit their passports. Participants who are unable to attend the Marathon Fair personally can designate somebody else to collect their race package if they present a copy of the runner’s ID documents. In case the race packages are not collected from the Marathon Fair within the given dates and hours, no claims will be accepted, and the Organization Committee will not be held responsible in any way.

Highlights

Marathon

The marathon passes through the Helles and Morto regions where the allies landed during the Gallipoli campaign. The route starts at the start line in Morto Bay and continues past the French Memorial in Morto Bay. Next, there is a right turn at the 2nd intersection (the 1st turning point of the Marathon). It then passes by Skew Bridge British Cemetery on the right, followed by Redoubt British Cemetery on the left. Next, it circles around the village of Alçıtepe and turns at the 2nd turning point of the Marathon in the direction of the village. After passing through Alçıtepe, the marathon goes south, passes by Twelve Tree Copse British Cemetery and Pink Farm British Cemetery and reaches ikiz Bay. After passing by Lancashire Landing British Cemetery, it reaches the Marathon turning point at Yahya Çavuş. After passing through the village of Seddülbahir, the second lap of the Marathon starts at the first intersection. The Marathon then follows the first route again, passes through Seddülbahir, passes by Morto Bay and reaches the finish line.

Half Marathon

The half marathon passes through the Helles and Morto regions where the allies landed during the Gallipoli campaign. The route starts at the start line in Morto Bay and continues past the French Memorial in Morto Bay. Next, there is a right turn at the 2nd intersection (the 1st turning point of the Half Marathon).
