Join Donegal Wild Atlantic Marathon and Half Marathon
The Donegal Wild Atlantic Marathon Voted “The Most Scenic Marathon in the World” by it’s runners after the hugely successful first Marathon & Half Marathon was held in South West Donegal in 2018.
The 2018 event, set the scene for future years, located on the stunning Wild Atlantic Way’s South West Donegal Coastline, the very first Magee 1866 Donegal Wild Atlantic Way Marathon & Half Marathon was hosted by Excel Sports. The local communities from Killybegs, Kilcar, Carrick & Glencolmcille showed their huge support and made the event the massive success that it turned out to be with encouragement from great supporters like local Councillor Niamh Kennedy.
Excel Sports are delighted to welcome back their sponsors Magee 1866 and Kelly’s Toyota and together with all the communities, supporters and those taking part The Magee 1866 Donegal Wild Atlantic Marathon will be an event to remember.
The course consists of a Full Marathon (26.2 miles) from Killybegs to Glencolmcille, and a Half Marathon (13.1 miles) based in the Glencolmcille area. The course is spectacular and one of the most scenic courses in Ireland. The entire South West embraces the event, and everyone from participants to spectators get to ‘Experience’ Donegal at it’s best, and see why it got voted the ‘Coolest place on the planet’ in 2017 by National Geographic.
The Full Marathon starts in Killybegs and ends in Glencolmcille. The Half Marathon starts in Glencolmcille village and joins the Full marathon course with both events finishing at Glencolmcille Folk Village.
