About Columbia Half Marathon & 5K

Downtown Columbia’s Premier Running Event!

Presented by Rip It Events, the Columbia Half Marathon is located 20 minutes from Baltimore and Washington D.C. This race is open to men and women and is appropriate for all experience levels including first-timers. A 5K race will follow after the start of the half marathon.

Practicalities

Age Limit

Half Marathon participants must be at least 14 years old on race day.

Aid Stations

MD. There are 6 aid stations located on the course. Aid stations will have water and Gatorade. Course volunteers and police officers will be at all turning points to guide athletes.

Award Medals

Cash awards will be given to the top three overall male and female runners. There is no duplication of prizes and winners will receive the higher cash prize.​ 1st Place - $350, 2nd Place - $250, 3rd Place - $150. There is no purse prize for the 5K race. ​ Additional prizes will be awarded to top finishers in the following categories for the half marathon: ​ 11-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Maximum Time

All runners will reach mile 6.6 in 2 hours and 1 minute. Runners that have not completed this distance by 10:16 AM may continue on their own but will not be supported by Police or Event Staff and must complete the course following the rules of the road. An 18:18 per mile pace was used to determine this required course cut off time.

• Continue on Harriet Tubman Lane
• Cross over and turn Right on Cedar Lane (against traffic)
• Left on Harmel Drive
• Right on Watch Chain Way
• Left on Hickory Ridge Road (against traffic)
• Left on LPP (against traffic)
• Cross over at South Mall Rd, continue on LPP with traffic
• Right on Sterrett Place
• Sterrett Place to finish line
