Experience Oman Muscat Marathon

Organised by Muscat Road Runners in 2012 with 135 competitors, Muscat Marathon has quickly grown in stature. In 2017, the event became known as the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon with Al Mouj Muscat, Oman Sail and Muscat Road Runners joining forces. As the marathon enters a new chapter, it continues to be hosted at the iconic Al Mouj Muscat venue, with Experience Oman taking on the title sponsorship. By 2019, the Muscat Marathon had reached new heights, with the marathon, marathon relay, half marathon, and 10K routes all certified by the world-renowned AIMS, aligning the event with the standards set by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The Charity Fun Run 5K attracted thousands of runners, raising significant funds for various causes, while the Kids’ Run sold out in record time. The most recent edition saw nearly 13,000 participants across five race categories, making it a true celebration of running over a two-day festival. With competitors from 102 nationalities, the event has solidified its position as one of the most iconic sporting events in Oman, drawing both local and international attention year after year.
