Fez, the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco, remains firmly rooted in its traditions, unlike the modernity of Casablanca or the glamour of Marrakech. The Medina of Fez, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981, is among the Arab world's most beautiful and preserved. Founded in the 9th century, it houses one of the oldest universities globally. Visiting Fez's medina means wandering through its alleys to uncover diverse neighborhoods and tucked-away architectural gems. From foundouks to madrasas, mosques to gardens, its rich history is evident everywhere. Fez's medina is more authentic than Marrakechs's, having preserved its enduring values and traditions.
