Über Malibu International Marathon

Rocky bluffs, sandy beaches, waves crashing against the shoreline, and plenty of rugged hills await on a gorgeous point-to-point route along the Pacific Coast Highway at the Malibu International Half Marathon, which makes its 7th annual running in 2015. Though in past years the race has included a full marathon and kids’ races, last fall the race organizers have announced they’ll focus on the half marathon only for 2015, with a redesigned course for the 13.1-miler that will start and finish at Point Mugu Beach, along the shoreline of Point Mugu State Park. Our mission is to promote health and fitness and fun athletic events. We strive to bring athletes from around the world together to achieve their athletic goals, build new relationships, and raise money for charities.

HIGHLIGHTS

Along the way, the race route offers some of this part of coastal California’s truly spectacular views:

  • While the first several miles of the half marathon route offer up pristine coastline through Point Mugu, along which the only modern intrusion is the highway.
  • While the last few miles bring runners past beautiful beachfront homes, one after another, many of which are owned by Hollywood’s biggest names.

ÜBERBLICK

Considered a rugged and hilly course by many past runners, the out-and-back Malibu International Half Marathon course starts at Point Mugu Beach along the shoreline of Point Mugu State Park. From there, the race unfolds along the Pacific Coast Highway all the way to the half-way turnaround at Neptune’s Net restaurant. After that, runners head in the opposite direction back to the finish line at Point Mugu Beach.
