Join Big Beach Marathon, Half Marathon and Safari 5K 2026
You’re invited to join us for the Big Beach Marathon in beautiful Gulf Shores, Alabama. The courses are scenic, flat, and fast, winding along fully paved trails through Gulf State Park. The marathon course is USATF certified and a Boston Qualifier for those aiming for a coveted qualifying time. The marathon and half marathon take place Sunday, with the start and finish beachside at The Hangout—offering stunning Gulf Shores views and a race-weekend backdrop runners love year after year.
In addition to Sunday’s marathon and half marathon, Saturday features the Safari 5K and Family Fun Run/Walk—perfect for those not ready for longer distances or for anyone seeking two days of racing. Take on the Shark or Dolphin Challenge by running the 5K on Saturday plus the full marathon on Sunday (Shark) or the 5K Saturday plus the half marathon Sunday (Dolphin). Challengers receive all the swag from both races, a third challenge medal, extra beer tickets, and serious bragging rights.
All participants are welcome at The Hangout after-party on Sunday to celebrate with post-race food, beer, and a great time by the beach.

What is the cancellation/refund policy for this event?
All entry fees are non-refundable. We reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event due to circumstances beyond our control such as a natural disaster or emergency or as required to protect the safety of participants and staff. No refunds will be issued under these circumstances. We reserve the right to change the details of the event without prior notice.

Adventure, fun, relaxation…you’ll find it all on Alabama’s white-sand beaches. For years, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach remained a little-known vacation treasure, but more and more families are discovering the 32 miles of soft sand and clear waters that lace the edges of Alabama’s southern border to the Gulf of Mexico. With attractions like the Alabama Zoo, zip lines, championship golf and water sports, travelers are escaping to the beach for their annual vacations and weekend getaways.
Are strollers, pets, bikes or skates allowed?
Strollers must start in the rear of the event and must be jogging strollers. We do not allow pets, bicycles, inline skates or any means of transportation other than running, walking or handcycles/wheelchairs. Race Director reserves the right to reject any entry or to remove any participant from the race course.
