关于 Museum of Aviation Foundation Marathon/Half-Marathon
A fast and largely flat course around the perimeter of Robins Air Force Base just outside Macon here in central Georgia awaits runners at the Museum of Aviation Foundation Half Marathon, which also includes a full marathon and 5K race that saw just under 1,000 runners cross the finish line in all races combined last year.
The event’s biggest race is the half marathon, which had 463 finishers in 2014 and takes runners on a single loop around the perimeter of the air force base, which was built in the early 1940s during World War II and today is the home of both the U.S. Air Force Materiel Command’s Warner Robins Air Logistics Center and the 78th Air Base Wing.
Though occasionally hilly — especially in the stretch around mile 5 — the half marathon route offers a mostly pleasant run around the base, which lies just minutes from downtown Warner Robins, about 18 miles south of Macon, and about 100 miles south of Atlanta, the biggest metropolitan area nearby.
The marathon course is USA Track and Field certified (Boston Marathon qualifier). The half marathon is also USA Track and Field certified. Proceeds from the growing annual event benefit the Museum of Aviation, one of the largest education-focused aviation museums in the country.
