Overview

The race starts and finishes line as the other races, next to Kent Island High School on the Kent Island Narrows.

From there, runners will follow what is known locally as the Cross Island Trail, a linear park filled with paved trails that winds through Queen Anne’s County from Kent Island Narrows all the way westward to Terrapin Nature Park, along the bay.

Alternating scenery marks the course throughout the 13.1-mile route, from paved roads to paved trails along the Cross Island Trail, to crushed gravel roads in spots and even oyster-shell trails in the “beach challenge” stretch along the bay.

Along the way, runners can expect to trek through wooded forest sections as well as stretches that look out onto the ponds and wetlands here along the Chesapeake Bay, between Chester and the Terrapin Park along the shore.
