The HAJ Hannover Marathon is an annual road running event featuring races over the marathon, half marathon and 10 km distance that is held in April in the city of Hannover, Germany. Over 26,000 people took part in the day's races at the 2018 edition of the event. The marathon race holds IAAF Silver Label status and it is part of the German Road Races group. The race is officially known as the HAJ Hannover Marathon. The marathon has elite level participants and German, East African and Eastern European runners have been the most successful in this category.

The marathon and half marathon routes visit the best sights that Hannover has to offer such as impressive palaces, gardens and parks. Even beside the course you will find a colourful supporting programme. Practicalities
Aid Stations
Catering (VP, Verpflegungspunkt) or refreshment (EP, Erfrischungspunkt) points will be set up at every 4 km on both the marathon and half-marathon courses so that good provisioning is guaranteed. Such supplies may be deposited at the Info Counter of the Neues Rathaus until 8.00 a.m. on Sunday. Medical assistance will be provided by the St. John’s Ambulance Service (Johanniter Unfallhilfe) at critical points along the course, refreshing- and nutrition points (except RP 1) and in the finish line area. There are toilets at all refreshing- and nutrition points.
Award Medals
After crossing the finish line, each participant will receive a medal; after this, participants enter the catering street (VPS, Verpflegungsstraße) where massages will be available.
Maximum Time
The target time for the marathon is 6:00 hours, and 3:15 hours for the half-marathon. Please understand that if you exceed these times you will be picked up by the “sweeper bus”. This will also be done for your own safety. Escort vehicles (cars, bicycles, motorbikes) are not permitted on the course.
