Join us for a marathon, half marathon, 10k or family run through the beautiful streets and trails of Olathe. This year marks the 18th anniversary of the event, which began in 2003 as the Olathe Marathon. The city of Olathe is just 20 minutes southwest of downtown Kansas City, located in Johnson County, Kansas. Come experience our Midwest charm in the Land of Oz.

Course highlights
Marathon The start is on 105th Street, east of Ridgeview (south of the Embassy Suites Hotel), facing west. Run west on 105th Street ½ block and turn left (south) on Ridgeview Road. Continue south on Ridgeview Road for approximately 3 miles (past College Blvd., 119th St., and Harold/127th St.). Turn right (southwest) on Kansas City Road. Continue southwest on Kansas City Road for approximately 1 mile and right (west) on Poplar Street. Turn right (north) on Woodland Road. Continue north on Woodland for approximately 1 mile. Turn left (almost a “U” turn) on Northgate and run southwest. Continue southwest on Northgate for approximately 1 mile and turn right (west) on Spruce Street. Run west on Spruce St. under the railroad tracks and turn right (north) on Iowa Street. Continue north on Iowa St. approximately 1 ½ miles and turn left (west) on 119th Street. Run west on 119th St. approximately ½ mile and turn right (north) on Lone Elm Road. Run north on Lone Elm Rd. approximately one mile and turn right (east) on College Boulevard. Run east on College Blvd. approximately 1 ¾ miles. At this point, after crossing a bridge the course will split with the marathon runners turning left onto the Mill Creek Running Trail and the ½ Marathon runners continuing east on College Blvd. Turn left (north) onto the Mill Creek Running Trail. The marathon will run north on the paved trail for 6.55 miles (under Hwy. K-10, under Prairie Star Parkway, past 87th Lane, and under 83rd Street) to the turnaround. After the turnaround, the runners will return on the same paved trail to the trail access point along College Boulevard. Turn left (east) on the trail/sidewalk along College Blvd. Continue east across Ridgeview and turn left (north) on Ridgeview Road. Run north on Ridgeview Road for approximately ¾ mile and turn right (east) on 105th Street. Continue east on 105th Street to the Finish in front of hotel. Half Marathon The start is on 105th Street, east of Ridgeview (south of the Embassy Suites Hotel), facing west. Run west on 105th Street ½ block and turn left (south) on Ridgeview Road. Continue south on Ridgeview Road for approximately 3 miles (past College Blvd., 119th St., and Harold/127th St.). Turn right (southwest) on Kansas City Road. Practicalities

Aid Stations

Aid stations will be placed along the course about every 1.5 to 2.5 miles. For locations, please check route map. Port-a-Potties will be placed along the course at or near each aid station. Water and Gatorade will be provided at each aid station and GU is available at 3 to 6 Aid Stations.

Award Medals

Each full, half, and 10K participant will receive a Wizard of Oz Themed medal immediately after crossing the finish line.

Equipment Storage

Available near the starting line.

Maximum Time

The finish line will shut down at 2:00 p.m. on race day. Based on the times below runners will be directed to walk on the sidewalk with no course coverage from police, volunteers, aid stations or medical.

Timing

The full marathon, half marathon, and 10K will use disposable bib chip timing through MyLaps. Chips will be attached to the back of your race bib. The chip does not activate until you cross the start line. There will be multiple split times along the course.
