About Freeport Half Marathon

Perhaps best known as the home of catalog retail giant L.L. Bean - as well as the more than 200-acre Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park and the Desert of Maine, where exposed glacial silt lies like sand in a park surrounded by forest (and even features a "Sand Museum") - Freetown, with just approximatley 7,800 traces its history all the way back to about 1700, and features historic homes along the same downtown streets as its plentiful outlet shops.

The town is also home o the Freeport Half Marathon which is now part of the New England Half Marathon Tour, a series of more than a dozen 13.1-milers across Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont in the Fall, Winter and Spring.

Much of the race is run through rural areas, with a few miles in the first half near the coastline along Maquoit Bay. The race also features a 5k race.

Accommodation

The Hilton Garden Inn is the main host hotel of the Freeport Half Marathon. It is conveniently just 1/2 block from the race starting line and just two blocks from race HQ and the finish line.

After Race Services

There will be fresh fruit, pastries and more at the finish line for runners to recover and enjoy.

Aid Stations

There will be 6 water stops on the half marathon course.

Award Medals

All finishers of the half marathon will receive finisher's medals. All age group champions will be given a Freeport Half pint glass to commemorate the achievement.

The course is very scenic.

Overview

The Half Marathon course starts on Bow Street across from Park Street. Heading out on Bow Street you'll run towards Flying Point Road. The course follows Flying Point Road into Brunswick and then turns left on Highland Road, then left on Pleasant Hill Road. The course merges back onto Bow Street and then turns left onto Lower Mast Landing Road, then right onto Cove Road, and then right onto South Street. The course turns left onto Bow Street and then left onto Depot Street towards the finish line behind Freeport USA.
