The Salzburg Marathon offers pure running pleasure in the city of Mozart. The flat and fast course leads you through the most beautiful places of the city. The Salzburg Marathon combines the best of two worlds with some iconic sights of this historical city ranging from medieval to baroque buildings and green and tranquil countryside mixed into one 21 km loop. All this with magnificent, snowy Eastern Alps in the backdrop. Marathoners can enjoy it all twice! The Salzburg Marathon has a great atmosphere with plenty of friendly spectators in the city and multiple music and cheering points along the course.

The 21st edition of the Salzburg Marathon will take place as the climax of the Running Festival of the MozartCity from 5th to 12th May, 2024 in Salzburg with a large offer of competitions and running programs to participate in.

The Running Festival of Mozart City provides you a large active-program over three days including competitions for every runner. A perfect opportunity to highlight your trip to Salzburg with a common running experience together with your family or your friends.
The very flat running course, measured according to the specifications of AIMS and World Athletics, leads you directly to most of the famous places of Mozarts’s hometown.

When and where can I collect my BIB/race pack?
At the SportMall@Salzburg Marathon at “Eisarena Volksgarten“ (Hermann-Bahr-Promenade 2, 5020 Salzburg, Austria)
Can someone collect my race pack for me?
No, every participant has to collect his/her race bag including the bib number personally.
How do I get to the race location?
We recommend to move by public transport or by bike (you will find information about bike rental in Salzburg on the event homepage) in the city area.
Can I change the distance after I purchase a ticket?
Please write an e-mail to [email protected]. If you will change from marathon to half marathon, you simply can finish the race after one lap. The timekeeping system will put you automatically into the right ranking and you get the finisher medal fo Salzburg Marathon.
What is special at Salzburg Marathon?
Salzburg Marathon has been bio-certified every yeare since 2010 for providing high quality organic food and drinks to participants and spectators. This long series is unique in marathon world. The rare exception of conventional food is clearly marked. Salzburg offers perfect possibilities to combine sports and culture within the UNESCO world cultural heritage Salzburg old town.
