Join Tromsø Mountain Challenge 2024
Late August you can take part in the Tromsø Mountain Challenge (TMC) that contains four mountain races and is a celebration of Mountains Running.
Friday: We kick off the TMC-weekend With the TMC Extreem Race. A 2,4K uphill run along the famous Sharpa Stairs in Tromsdalen that was built by Sherpas from Nepal. The race finishes at the Cable car station 420 meter over sea level.
Saturday is the Ultraday: There are two races on Saturday - Tromsø Mountain Ultra 50K and HalfUltra 25K. Buses bring the participants of the TMC Ultra 50K to Snarbyeidet where they embark on 50 kilometres of mountina terrain before finishing in Tromsdalen. The unique Arctic landscape set the stage for a spectacular race through an active reindeer herding District. The history of Sami reideer herding in this area goes back serveral hundred years. About half-way the participants from the TMC HalfUltra 25K join ranks With the 50K runners and side by side they ascend and descend the mountatins encircling the valley of Tromsdalen.
Sunday is the TMC Tindløp 10,6km uphill race starts from Tromsdalen and goes up to the popular Tromsdalstinden that is 1238 m over sea level.
Each on its own these races pose a serious Challenge. The ultimate Challenge for the high spirited however, is the TMC-Triple comprised of the TMC Extreme Race on Friday, TMC Ultra 50K on Saturday and TMC Tindløpet on Sunday. What a weekend.

What gear is required for participating in TMC Tindløpet?
All participants are required to bring a backpack that contains a dry shirt, food (minimum 150g), waterbottle/something to drink (0,5l), a wind jacket and a mobile phone. There are no service stations at the top of Tromsdalstinden. The content of the backpack is considered safety gear, as there might be some rough weather conditions at the top of the mountain.
What is the cut-off time for TMC?
Rab Ultra 50K: Max time limit by checkpoint Tromsdalselva (32km) is 5 1/2h (14:30). If you use longer time you will have to finish your race here, and continue directly to the finish area by the TUIL Arena in Tromsdalen valley and report to a race marshall. The total maximum time for the Rab Ultra 50K is 9h. TMC HalfUltra 25K: 6h TMC Tindløpet: 3h

T-shirt (must be in your backpack when you cross the finish line) Map (provided by the organizer) Compass or GPS (GPS watch and compass in watch is not approved) Food (minimum 150g food left in your backpack when you cross the finish line) Windbreaker jacket Windbreaker pants Hat Gloves Whistle (to call for attention if you are in need of help) Cellphone Water bottle (or skin) Warming blanket/foil (provided by organizer, applies only to the 50K race)
